In just 13 hours, the Dutch company Windcentrale has raised 1.3 million euros through crowdfunding. The money will be used to purchase a wind turbine and the 1700 households involved in the operation will become shareholders.
A cooperative is set up each time a wind turbine is bought and the electricity generated is sold to the energy company Greenchoise, which has been operating in the country since 2003.
