The American company Ocean Electric has its origins in Catalonia and, as a pioneer in the development of marine technology, has chosen to support our project. This makes it the first company specialized in renewable energy technology to become a collaborating partner of GoiEner.
The company, which has its European headquarters in Barcelona, focuses its activities on the development of off-shore wind farms, marine energy (wave power) plants, and even combining both forms of technology to create more efficient sites.
The plan which OCEL has for the Basque Country involves installing one of its wave power prototypes on the Biscay Marine Energy Platform (BIMEP) set up by EVE (Basque Energy Board) in Armintza, Lemoiz. To do this, the company is working with Innobasque to secure financial backing which will enable the prototype to be built in Basque shipyards and subsequently trialled off our coastline.
